NO.76, San Diego, California - Honest Sid Gerhart Ring
Meets 6:30 PM, every 2nd Monday of each month at Jack’s Magic Place
4275 University Ave, San Diego CA
This January our meeting started out with the induction ceremonies for our new ring members and then continued with a delightful evening of quick wits and originality.
First off I would like to welcome Ring 76's newest members which includ; Brianna Philipp, Jacques Lord, Nelson Bui and myself Salomon A. Barajas. Nice to have you with us.
Ahhh..nothing keeps a magician on their toes like a good old “Brown Bag Night” in which eleven adventurous members each selected a bag with a mystery trick, and after a few minutes of practice performed it for our fellow members.
As our brave members put their routines together , Kenny Shelton performed his close up act which he hopes to take to this years IBM Convention. Good Luck Kenny!
Then the show began...
Tom McCarthy with only a deck of jumbo cards and silk with a card printed on it devised a rather commercial presentation for these two items. He tied for first place.
Ed Estrin was given the “Finger”...., which he then used to magically produce a silk.
Diane Lane did a very nice production and vanish of a silk when she received a “20th Century Silk” and a “Pull”.
For Salomon Barajas it was all about showmanship when he ended up with the “Tannen’s Acrylic Card Rise”. If I had only found the selected card.......
Jeff Marcus proves to us that cheaters do win big when using Harry Anderson’s “Jumbo Marked Deck”
Greg Wauson, created a small miracle with the “Instanto Rope”, no adhesives, no snaps.
Jim Thayer after a couple of “ooh ooh’s” pulled a Houdini on all of us as he escaped from a set of “Siberian Chains”.Can no prison can contain this mad man of magic?
Jacaques Lord read our minds with a set of “ESP Cards”. Think happy thoughts America.
Joe Mystic did not drop a single ball as he performed the “Multiplying Billiard Balls”. Good Job.
Brian McDaniel used “Ringo” to pass solid through solid in the hands of our young spectator Brianna Phillipp.
Richard Ustick, presented one of the winning routines with the “Morrissey Coffee Vase” using ropes and knot coffee. Get It.... He tied for first place.
I would like to thank J.P. Jackson for providing all the magical props and also Charlie Gott and Brianna Phillipp for assisting our fellow members in this evenings event.
